A. G. Garcia, Ph.D., Docent, Lund University

In 2018, I received my PhD in Philosophy from Lund University, where I defended my dissertation on final value under the supervision of Professors Toni Rønnow-Rasmussen and Wlodek Rabinowicz. From 2019 to 2024, I continued my research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Philosophy, with a project funded by the SRC. As part of this project, I spent four years at Humboldt University in Berlin, working in Professor Thomas Schmidt’s research group in ethics.

My areas of specialization are value theory, normative ethics, applied ethics, and political philosophy. I also have broad research interests in metaphilosophy (particularly metaontology), the philosophy of language, and the philosophy of mind. I have extensive teaching experience in normative ethics, metaethics, practical ethics, political theory, critical thinking, the philosophy of science, and more. In 2025, I was awarded a generous stipend by the Sten K. Johnson Foundation to develop a philosophy book aimed at a general readership.
